From one woman’s craving to a thousand women’s creation.
It began with a question — why does snacking feel so guilty today?
Kalyani’s search for honest food took her to the villages of India, where she met women still following the slow, sacred art of cooking.
From those kitchens came recipes made without refined flour or refined sugar — full of real ingredients, and fuller hearts.
That’s how Sahrudaya was born — from one woman’s heart to many women’s hands — to bring back the purity of Indian food traditions to every modern home.

From a city girl to a village girl
I began researching the causes and consequences of rising vitamin D deficiency in rural women of Pabal (a small village 60 kilometres from Pune City).
It was my first time in a village, and the most intriguing things were the delicacies made by the mothers of this village from crops grown on their farms.
Chikkis made from moringa (drumstick) leaves, laddoos made from bajri and flaxseed, and a variety of tasty chutneys made simply by roasting and grinding seeds were not only nutritious but also delicious.
When I returned to my city home on weekends, I would bring these delicacies to my family.
That's how Sahrudaya got its start !
Collaborating with village women, training and standardising their recipes, and presenting them to urbanites in their original form !
