Yeh GaaRelu Gaarelu kya hai? Extremely flavourful chips of southern India. Twelve ingredients go into making these chips. One chip gives you a whole South Indian thali feel. Unpolished rice, chana daal, crushed peanuts and sesame-based crackers are a delight to munch between and during meals. Freshly ground garlic, curry leaves, coriander seeds, red chillies and turmeric are used to make these chips mouth-watering.

Why are they fried?

The best method of preservation is frying! We use only 100 percent pure sunflower oil to assure optimum frying technique. We avoid heating the oil multiple times and use 1L to fry only 2.5 kg of GaaRelu! Last but not least, baking or air frying is avoided because they call for additional ingredients such as baking or dehydrating agents to produce wonderfully crisp chips. And we are against using any kind of synthetic or natural additives for that matter!

Best Way to enjoy GaaRelu?

GaaRelu can be just eaten! But traditionally to make your treat your taste buds, dip the GaaRelu in a fresh creamy dahi or imli-red chilly ka achaar (chintakaay pachadi)

What do we do with leftover used oil?

We make washing soaps out of the oil and use them to wash our utensils and cloths that we use at our set-up! Excess soaps are distributed among us and used at each of our homes! This beautiful idea was given by our Begade Tai of Maval, Pune.
